Fishing Report 27 August 2018

Having been blessed with some reasonable weather of late, many locals have ventured out chasing the unpredictable Marlin and Sailfish with some encouraging results.

Duane and Linda Jay fished four days and tagged and released eleven Billfish, a great effort. Ben (Notso) Bright and Darren Lee received many bites last Thursday and managed to tag and release four on fly, which is by far the most difficult mode of capture for Billfish and a terrific effort guys!

Myself and Louis Drake went chasing Billfish on Saturday and managed to tag and release one sailfish, we also grabbed two more fish up but were not able to hook them up. The majority of these fish are being caught down South near the Southern boot, North west of the Archer River mouth.

In the estuaries the Barra and Jacks have turned up with the warmer weather as evident by this 48 cm specimen caught by Rob Luxford recently. Rob and his mate also got five Barra on the same afternoon, all on lures and all 10 minutes from Evans Landing boat ramp.

In the shop we have our Fathers Day catalogs in full swing with many bargains to be had for this special day so please call in and have a chat to our friendly staff.
