Fishing Report 8 October 2018
After a windy couple of weeks on the water, it was great to see the good conditions return over the last few days.
There were many anglers out on the water chasing Barra for some fun before the season closure, which is now in effect until the 1st of February 2019. Over the weekend, the Post Office Manager, Bill Grant caught this lovely 65cm specimen in the Mission River, what a catch!
The guys from Weipa Sports Fishing have reported an abundance of Barra and King Salmon down south in the Love and Archer Rivers respectively. Offshore, the Billfish have been quite scarce this year, however Louis Drake and Roger Lee have tagged and released a Sailfish and a Marlin west of the Northern Fad over the weekend. Great work guys!
Just a reminder to all of the locals and tourists, that the Barramundi season is now closed and any Barra caught MUST be released immediately in good condition. Penalties apply if you are caught not obeying these rules.
Until next week, bent rods and tight lines.
