David Howell and friends, fished the Wenlock recently and caught big fish up to 116cm on vibes and there have also been many 75 to 85cm specimens caught, like the one pictured caught and released by myself recently. As we all know, persistence pays and ensuring we don’t take more than we need is crucial to ensure fishing is enjoyed by many for centuries to come.
The Billfish have been a bit quiet with many anglers burning a lot of fuel between fish. However, with the Billfish competition on this coming long weekend with approximately 20 boats competing there are sure to be fresh stories for everyone to endure. The Calcutta for this event will be held at the Bowls Club on Friday night 28th followed by sail past at Evans Landing at 7am on Saturday morning September 29th. From the team at Tackleworld Weipa we send wishes of good luck to all competitors participating.
Mackerel and Tuna are still about 9 and 12 mile and good reports of quality Tuskers and Fingermark are coming in from the Bluewater anglers too.
Until next week, bent rods and tight lines.
