Fishing Report 10 September 2018

Spring is well and truly here in Far North Queensland and the weather is warming up rapidly which means many species of fish are willing and able to accept bait or lure. There is no doubt that the warmer weather brings 'ear to ear' smiles for our locals and our travellers alike, who are all keen to catch the big one!

Reports have been far and few between on the Billfish front, but we're certain there will be a stack load more action on the Sails and Marlin front in coming weeks.

Finding bait schools seems to be challenging, however, when we are able to do this the Billfish won't be far away, keep those fingers crossed!

Spanish Mackerel are still being taken off Dyfken and are down around 9 to 12 mile and large Tuna schools can be found in same areas which are great fun on light tackle.

Bottom fishing has been really solid with quality Fingermark, Trout and Tuskers in abundance around the inshore reefs and Bombies as can be seen by this quality Tusker taken by local fisho Dean.

Barra have been slowly coming back on the chew with some warmer weather with a lot of undersized fish around with the occasional good one as well.

Be patient and rewards will come your way, remembering to work your lures slowly for best results.
